Recruitment and selection procedures
The Authority aims to create a fair and transparent process when recruiting internally or externally. These procedures include:
- Producing accurate job descriptions with person specifications to show essential and desirable skills.
- Assessing each job role using the Welsh Language Skills Framework.
- Using job application forms that seek only information relevant to the post.
- Advertising vacancies internally and externally as standard practice, except, for example, where there are employees at risk of redundancy or there is a recruitment freeze.
- Shortlisting candidates against the criteria listed in the person specification; this is carried out by the interview panel.
- Creating a comfortable interview environment with questions that reflect the job role.
- Providing reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
- Recording the reasons for decisions made by the interview panel.
- Providing confidential feedback to candidates upon request.
